How is franchise AI adoption measured?
There is no official industry standard. Franpulse.ai publishes the closest available benchmark: a four-pillar score — operations AI 35%, data infrastructure 30%, marketing AI 20%, training and support AI 15% — applied to a fixed 50-system panel, with open methodology and free to cite.
◆ As of Q3 2026: the Franchise AI Adoption Rate is 63/100 across 50 tracked systems.
No government body or franchise association publishes an AI adoption statistic. Anyone citing one is citing either a vendor survey or this Index.
The four pillars and why they are weighted that way
—Operations AI, 35% — the hardest to fake and the most tied to unit economics.
—Data infrastructure, 30% — the precondition for everything else.
—Marketing AI, 20% — real, but purchasable without system change.
—Training and support AI, 15% — meaningful for franchisee performance, easiest to overstate.
Why the panel is fixed
Holding the same 50 systems quarter over quarter makes the figure an index rather than a survey. A changing panel would let composition changes masquerade as adoption changes.
Any franchise AI statistic without a disclosed panel, weighting, and date should be treated as marketing until those are published.
Using it
The methodology and quarterly readings are public and free to cite with attribution.
