Is North America ahead of Asia in franchise AI adoption?
Barely. North American-headquartered systems average 63/100 in the Franpulse.ai Index against 61/100 for APAC-headquartered systems — a two-point gap that is well within the noise of a 50-brand panel.
The assumption that North America leads franchise AI does not survive contact with the data.
The regional averages
—North America: 63 average across 36 tracked systems.
—APAC: 61 average across 12 tracked systems.
Why the gap is smaller than expected
Several of the most operationally serious AI deployments we track run in Asia — computer-vision food safety in China, cashierless convenience formats in Japan. Some of these sit inside North American-headquartered brands, which means the regional split by headquarters understates where the work happens.
Headquarters location is a weak proxy for where AI is deployed. A US-headquartered brand may be running its most advanced systems in Shanghai.
How to read this honestly
A two-point difference across unequal sample sizes is not a finding. The defensible statement is that the two regions are comparable, not that either leads.
